Rubblization
The
process of Rubblization offers a cost-effective option for
rehabilitating concrete roadways, eliminating the reflection cracking
problems that can occur when overlaying HMA over PCC. This report by the
Transportation Research Board details how breaking up the existing PCC
pavement through the process of Rubblization allows conversion from PCC
to HMA pavement. Included are testing results of Rubblization projects
by the Illinois and Louisiana DOT as well as airfields across the US.
