NAPA Diamond Award LogoNAPA Diamond Achievement Commendations

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) developed the Diamond Achievement Commendation program in 1999 to encourage excellence among the HMA industry.  This unique and respected self-assessment program recognizes responsible plant/site operation practices that foster good community relations.

The self-assessment process includes six categories: Appearance, Operations, Environmental Practices, Safety, Permitting and Regulatory Compliance, and Community Relations.  The process also includes a third-party review by a local public official, community association official, or a neighbor.  Earning the Commendation promotes compliance with central elements of federal environmental regulations, which pleases the local zoning and permitting commission.

The Diamond Achievement Commendation is not an award; it is annual recognition of responsible HMA plant/site operations that value excellence as the standard.  In addition to earning the Commendation, NAPA conducts a media relations campaign to highlight the Diamond Achievement Commendation process.  All segments of the HMA industry are informed of each new and renewed recipient of the Diamond Achievement Commendation.
