The 75th Annual GHCA/GAPA Convention will take place April 25-28, 2013 at Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Speakers will include Matt Stinchomb: former University of Georgia, Oakland Raiders, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers football player who earned All-American honors and was a first-round pick in the 1999 NFL Draft; and Roger Tutterow, Ph.D, Professor of Economics at Mercer University. Cleaner Water with Asphalt - Asphalt Pavement Alliance Releases New White Paper

Lanham, MD – Asphalt pavements can be excellent tools in improving water quality, says a new white paper from the Asphalt Pavement Alliance. “The APA’s newest publication scientifically documents the beneficial effects that asphalt pavements can have on water quality,” according to Dr. Howard Marks of the National Asphalt Pavement Association. Dr. Marks is the report’s principal author and serves as co-chair of the team that produced the document.
The green benefits of 100 percent recyclable asphalt pavement might be surprising to some. For improved stormwater management, clean drinking water, and reduced roadside pollution, asphalt pavements are clean and environmentally beneficial,” he continued. The Georgia Department of Transportation will be enforcing the safety edge specification this paving season. Are you ready? Equipment manufacturers have several options available that include a separate shoe that can be attached to the paver to produce the edge, or an end gate that has the edge incorporated.
