Georgia Asphalt Pavement Association
(GAPA) represents
the interests of Georgia Hot Mix Asphalt producers, paving contractors
and suppliers. GAPA supports an active research program on environmental
issues and quality improvement in paving techniques used in the
construction of roads, streets, highways, parking lots, airports, and
environmental and recreational facilities using HMA.
The Association provides technical, educational, and
marketing materials and information to its members, and supplies
technical information to users and specifiers of paving materials.

Asphalt Institute Hosting Workshop in Atlanta
On October 26, 2011, the Asphalt Institute will be hosting a 1-day
Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement Construction Workshop at the Wyndham Garden
Atlanta Airport Hotel. This workshop is designed for engineers,
inspectors, technicians, and contractor personnel responsible for
quality control of paving materials, mix design procedures, the
inspection and operations of asphalt plants, and paving operations.
Participation should include personnel from federal, state, county and
local agencies, airport authorities, paving contractors, consulting
engineers, and testing laboratories. Includes lunch and a copy of AI's
MS-22 Construction of Hot Mix Asphalt Pavements manual. For

Safety Edge Information
3/24/11 - The Georgia Department of Transportation will be enforcing the Safety
Edge specification this paving season. Are you ready? Equipment
manufacturers have several options available that include a separate
shoe that can be attached to the paver to produce the edge, or an end
gate that has the edge incorporated. For more information on the safety
